Yes, I have been inside the SMBV’s and they are pretty modular. Not impossible to repair to component level, but not going to be easy if its something less than obvious. I have been in the R&S repair facility in Maryland, and from what I could tell, they just swap boards. They may send those boards elsewhere for repair.
We used the SMBV primarily for LTE simulation to include experimenting with moving control frequency, and shutting off resource blocks for spectrum sharing. They were very good for this purpose. If you can get it fixed you will have a super fine piece of equipment to utilize.
