Agilent N1996A firmware upgrade 2.0 to 2.07
« on: March 05, 2023, 03:42:04 am »
Just downloaded on my Win10 PC  Agilent upgrade 2.07 firmware to a USB flash drive from Keysight and followed all the steps given and no luck upgrading.  The 3 files are:
A.02.07.pkg   21,460 KB
N1996A.pkg          14 KB
installFlags.             1KB
which are new to me.  My Mac would not allow a download  for security reasons.  Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Hank

After wasting many, many hours I feel defeated.  I wonder if someone with an Agilent N1996A has updated their firmware to A-02-07 and can tell me how to do it as at 82 I'm not having much luck.  Or if you  are experienced with Agilent and their updates can you make the files and send them to me?
Thanks
Hank

On the flash drive you should see three things in the root directory - a directory(folder) named A.02.07 and two files named system.ini and version.

What you listed is the contents of the A.02.07 folder which is not what the installation instructions say should be in the root of the flash drive.

Unzip the downloaded A-02-07-USB.zip to a flash drive and it will be done. Plug the flash drive into the N1996A and power it on.

Finally go it upgraded and after several more failed attempts it worked and I guess I lucked out. PC Win10 hasn't been my strong suit after giving up on my Mac.  During the successful install I noticed the progress ribbon at the bottom of the A1996A display indicated .PKG files being used .
Thanks
