Agilent U3402A Opinons? Anyone using it?
« on: November 03, 2012, 09:19:46 am »
Anyone using Agilent U3402A bench multimeter?

I've seen some non-encouraging comments about the smaller brother, U3401A, here:

The diode test / continuity appears different in spec, that would at least make me think the U3402A would not behave identical to the U3401A, but who knows.

The datasheet seems to be having an issue, Under the DC Voltage specifications you don't see the name of the U3402A  only the name of the U3401A, but of course the specs are there, it's only the name missing.  http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/5990-3970EN.pdf

I have U3401A. Agilent support confirmed that problem with diode test and told me that U3402A has the same problem. Its firmware issue and does not effect accuracy.

It is very very nice meter, high quality and I just love it!  U3402A has faster reading modes and its worth spending a bit more money to get it.

I think I can get you a brand new meter for $350 + shipping if interested...

The U3402A was lanched  in June 2009. Since then they are still with this firmware issue? Not very encouraging.

U3402A or U3401A?

U3401A

They had that problem since they are produced, however, Agilent was not aware of that. I reported this problem a month ago and they confirmed and told me its firmware bug.

Not sure when they will release upgrade.

Thanks, but I am interested in the U3402A.

I thought Agilent are more Agile in programing such meters or more Agile finding this firmware bug faster than (over) 3 years since the release of the meter.
