I just sold my DSOX2004A, which has been modded to become a MSOX2024A.
As I also have my MSOX3024A (which I will keep), someone had the good idea to make/show a detailed comparison between both in terms of what exactly the 3000 series offers more and the 2000 series is lacking.
-Edit: when the comparison has been made and edited, the link to it will be shown at the 4th post. The 4th post will be a placeholder until then.
As the buyer agreed to wait another day or two for his purchased 2000 series scope, I am planning to do this comparison tomorrow. Editing and publishing will take a bit longer of course, but as long I am in the lucky position to have both here (until Monday), I thought I use the opportunity to create such 1:1 comparison.
The folling lists shows what I am planning to show.
Of course, the differences can be found on the net, however without having both scopes on your desk, you do not know how what exactly this means and looks like. Even Keysight is not going into details often
Planned:
1) show the differences between the original DOSX2004A (no options) and the h*cked version (MSOX2024A)
2) differences (if any) between full optioned 2000 and 3000 series:
* probes
* sample rate (difference)
* Wavegenerator: options, parameter, Arb
* test signals: options
* serial decoder (options, digital channels vs. analog channels,
* search function
* triggering (options, serial)
* available memory (does more memory help you)?
* segmented memory (differences, size)
* math functions
* digital channels (differences, speed)
* waveform update rates
If you have any further ideas, feel free to post or to PM me with them. Also if you are interested in a specific information about an item also showed in the above list, mentioning it would be helpful, as I otherwise migth overview/forget about it
I will then add them to my list and try to cover this too.

Biggest difference for most purposes, active probe interface.

A subtle but annoying difference is that you can have bus decoding on the logic channels of the 3000 series, but only on the analog of the 2000 series. Drives me nuts sometimes.

kept free space - will filled with comparison when done

Yes, I will definately note this, as it is a bit hidden in Keysights communication. I think it is usually not a big deal for 4-channel owners as today serial decoding is usually used. However, some who only has purchased the 2 channel version (e.g. DSOX2002a) might have a problem with it.

A similar thread was going here about 2 years ago:

I have both, the 2000X and the 3000X in 4 channel versions.
Looking forward to your comparison.
