Amprobe AM-270 "Auto Leads Resistance Calibration"
(1/1)
mwb1100:
I came across this manual entry for an Amprobe AM-270 feature that I wasn't aware of:

--- Quote ---Auto Leads Resistance Calibration

When entering the 50 Ohm range manually by RANGE button for high precision low resistance measurement, this feature will prompt you to short the inputs for calibration. The display shows “Shrt”. Simply short the leads for about 3 seconds until the display shows zero, then the resistance in the leads and in the internal protection circuitry of the meter is compensated automatically. The compensation value can be as much as 5 Ohm. If you need a compensation value that is higher than that, Relative mode is recommended.

--- End quote ---

Anyone know what the technology behind that is?  Presumably it's different/better in some way than using the rel function to zero out the leads, or there wouldn't be any reason to bother putting it in.

Do any other Brymen meters have this?  (the AM-270 is an rebadge of the Brymen BM817)
