Amps to mV convertor
« on: October 10, 2022, 11:12:12 am »
Hi, looking around Yt I've found Dave's video about a nice box that translates current to mV similar to a regular shunt.

Video link:

The question is does anyone know the name of the device at 17:40?

Do you mean the uCurrent?

Details in the EEVBlog store, but currently out of stock.  https://www.eevblog.com/product/ucurrentgold/

It is a device that Dave Jones designed and sells.  He calls it "microcurrent".  It is a shunt plus an amplifier to increase the small voltage developed across the shunt.

Dave published an article describing it, so you could actually build your own if so inclined.

There is a few videos and forum posts about improvements (the uCurrent "Gold", potential issues, and custom mods) since that article was originally published.

The EEVblog 121GW DMM also includes a similar amplifier for "low burden" current measurement.

If you want something pre-made and don't mind paying a bit for it, there is the CurrentRanger:
