Analog Discovery Pro 5000 is now 40% off - time to buy?
« on: December 02, 2024, 06:12:16 pm »
Digilent has taken 40% off of its T&M products for today, Nov 2, 2024. This include their ADP5470 (350MHz) and ADP5490 (500MHz) all-in-one test equipment. I haven't been able to find any reviews on them. Has anyone used them? How do they compare to a Siglent, or Rigol 'scope? I mostly do digital design with micros and FPGAs.
-Thanks, Dave Pollum

I personally prefer standalone scope because if it were to :-BROKE, and it least I won't risk blowing up my PC at the same time.

In addition to the 40% there is an offer for another 10% if I you sign up for text message alerts for sale items. I have a couple Analog Discovery's and I really like the minimal bench space and having two 25" monitors makes it easy on the old eyes  :-+

Very true, but for learning electronics it is truly the SwissArmy knife of T&M equipment, and the support through their user forum is second to none. Atila is extremely knowledgeable, and usually quick to respond.

For their "sale" price, it should be 12 bits and come with a screen. 🤷

Their eclipse Z7 kit is also on sale.
Can get the 2-channel oscilloscope bundle.
$380 gives you 2 channel, 14 bit, 70mhz oscilloscope + 2 channel 14 bit AWG + Zync 7000
I wonder if I need a new project...

You can easily put together an electronics workbench with dedicated instruments for this amount of money. I could see it being used in some sort of ATE, where dedicated screens are actually a drawback. Otherwise the thing doesn't even have a status LED to tell if the power supply is on.

Or software guys, for some reason, they love to buy the most inconvenient test equipment for themselves.
The 2000 series is a different ballpark.

I say with Digilent you are paying a bit for the software and support.  Also good for education market and learning about using a computer to control test equipment.  They expanded upwards in the hardware space because it wasn't too much of a lift from their previous position?  Also, they may have had pressure from the new parent company Emerson to leverage their existing IP.

Their education discount is pretty good, maybe 30%.  I picked up a bunch a while back using my school account.  But this sale is very good, even better I think, considering inflation!

The sale yesterday on the T&M gear was marked one day only. If they are really trying to stimulate sales they need to give people a bit more time to make a spending decision that is for most a good amount of money.
