Analog Transistor checker help.
« on: March 15, 2021, 07:05:20 pm »
I recently acquired a Future Electronics FTC-401 transistor checker.
It was made in Japan.
i cant find a manual for it anywhere. There is a new company listed with the name “future Electronics “ but they know nothing of it.
I have attached a photo. Anyone know anything about these units or perhaps have a manual?
thank you.

No information, but it’s unfortunate that they did not include a front-panel socket for TO5 and TO18 packages (isosceles right triangle).  I assume that the beta measurement is simply a current source to the base-emitter circuit and a current meter for the collector current.  Is it battery operated and how much voltage do you see at the collector terminal?
You might be able to find a manual for the Heathkit IT-18, which looks similar, but it’s beta and leakage scales are nonlinear.  Similarly, the Sencore units have nonlinear scales.

Future Electronics is a US distributor of electronic parts.  They probably had this made by some Asian outfit some years ago.

What is it you want to know about it?  It seems pretty simple.
