Aneng AN8203 - Kaput?
(1/1)
BillyO:
Yesterday  I was measuring a 12V supply to see if it was actually 12 V with my AN8203 when the display went blank.  Now when I turn it on it first shows all the graphics on teh display, beeps 5 times, then clear the display except for the "AUTO" element and then does nothing further.

Changing the batteries was not any help.

Anyone else have this experience?  Is it landfill?

Yes.

It lives!

Seeing as how I had come to grips with throwing this out I decided to pull a DJ and "take it apart!"

It turned out to be a broken solder joint on the negative batter spring.  A little clean-up, a little flux and a dap of solder and it's back to it's barely useful self.

Actually it sees more use than some of my other meters specifically because it will fit in my pocket.
