Anyone faced ADC/Initialization Errors with a Sorensen power supply?
(1/1)
LoveLaika:
I was asked to have a look at a Sorensen DHP programmable power supply. It's for high voltage, and we use it for lab experiments. However, recently, it fails to work. When you turn it on, it says something about the ADC not calibrated or something. From what I can tell, it gets stuck at this point, so it doesn't finish some initialization sequence. It's the first time we've experienced this; generally, when we turn it on, it works normally. Anyone faced anything like this before?

Curious if you got anywhere with this?
This sounds like an NVRAM failure. The DHP uses a Dallas DS1230Y NVRAM for configuration data and calibration constants. We have one at work that recently stopped working and are kicking ourselves for not backing up the NVRAM IC sooner.
Contemplating sourcing a parts unit to try and reverse-engineer the NVRAM but it might be a (very expensive) shot in the dark.

Sorry to disappoint. We just bought a new power supply to replace it rather than spend a really long time troubleshooting the issue. I wish I could say more about it, but it just wasn't worth the time to spend hours to try and look for the cause, especially since this is way out of my depth.
