Anyone familiar with Anritsu MT1000A Network Master Pro?
« on: March 13, 2025, 03:37:24 pm »
I have a Anritsu MT1000A that I got some time ago for a project and then it sat in my truck.  I thought I'd dig it back out when another project came up where I wanted to try and use it to help diagnose some ethernet issues.  I have the MU100010A module, so I thought 'great, I finally already own something that I need, instead of constantly needing to buy something...' but it seems like maybe I've forgotten how to use it or maybe the previous owner didn't option it correctly when it was new.  It looks like the only things that are functional are the OTDR portion, which is why I originally picked it up.

Going off the system information, I have three modules in addition to the mainframe: MU100021A(OTDR), MU100040A(CPRI), and MU100010A(10G Multirate), but under the EEPROM Options for the MU100010A module, the only options that show up in green are MU100010A-071 CPRI dual channel up to 5G and -072 6G-10G single channel.  So, that leads me to believe that I am hosed.  Is there anywhere that I can still obtain options for this?  I have to think that since it is obsolete, Anritsu probably will want to sell me a new piece of equipment, instead of support the obsolete hardware, at which point, I would look for a new used piece of equipment.  I don't know how the licensing/options on these work, say for instance, am I likely to find someone that has unused license or option keys that I could buy and install or is that not how these systems are expanded.  I haven't found a lot of information online about these and was hoping to try and run across someone that might know.
TIA

Did you look at the latest product datasheet? While MU100010A has been superseded by MU100010A1, most of the options could be retrofitted later. You would have to contact a service center in your region for details.

Note that the MT1000A is a Japan division product. The MU100040A module was a joint project with the US division and Japan, but did not catch on. Americas service typically goes to the California (US division) location, but is still serviced by the Japan division operatives.
