Siglent SPD3303C Power Supply Channel 2 Not Floating
« on: March 05, 2022, 06:17:44 pm »
I purchased 2 of these and one functions correctly in that both channels float. The other has channel 2’s negative terminal connected to the chassis Ground lug.
I can send this back to Siglent at some cost or try and fix it myself. I found one other case where someone else had the same problem but just returned it to Amazon. I would have done that but stupidly left it in the box until the return window was closed.
Anyway I was wondering if anyone else here had faced the same issue and whether it was an easy fix. Thx for any assistance.

Welcome to the forum.

Good catch as this one unit does not meet datasheet spec:

I have contacted them but was wondering if it would be an easy enough fix to do myself. Thought someone else here might have see the issue.

And break the warranty seal ?
Best not to but place it back firmly in their lap to sort properly and report back if it's a production issue.

But your call.........

I doubt that the factory accidentally added a wire to chassis ground, so the problem is probably a bit harder to fix:  possibly a shorted capacitor or a stray piece of metal (burr or swarf).
If you can arrange it, returning it for warranty service is probably a better idea.

Or solder bridge. Not the customers job to investigate why it don't meet spec.......
