I have a rebadged model of this DMM: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AstroAI-Multimeters-Capacitance-Transistors-Temperature/dp/B071JL6LLL/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=5000+trms&qid=1603510384&sr=8-2 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/AstroAI-Multimeters-Capacitance-Transistors-Temperature/dp/B071JL6LLL/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=5000+trms&qid=1603510384&sr=8-2)
... mine being this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07RC26XL7?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07RC26XL7?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)
... and I can confirm that the EEPROM hack to disable backlight timeout and auto power off, work on this DMM as per the instructions on Kerry Wong's site: http://www.kerrywong.com/2016/03/19/hacking-dtm0660l-based-multimeters (http://www.kerrywong.com/2016/03/19/hacking-dtm0660l-based-multimeters)
As for RS232 output, I've yet to get that working, if at all, but I just wanted to share this with you, as it's a nice cheap meter and works well.
Take care.
