ATTEN ADS1102CAL

Electro Detective:
Yes, I was planning something like that to assist others here stuck with NQR DSOs

Backtracking the data gathering merry go round from yesterday, and will post those details here asap

EDIT: Here's some photos and user first impressions of the ATTLENT:

Siglent splash screen greets the user

The default green bordered 'desktop' look is gone even after a full reset at boot time,
and so is the Chinese as the full reset default Language with this unit (it's now English default)

The desktop has the classy Siglent-esque appearance and attractive layout imho  :-*

Self CAL is blazingly fast    :o

When conducting a 'keys test' the 'PRINT' and 'MENU on/off' respond in reverse, as well as the the Position and Vertical range knobs
and others because on the Siglent they are physically positioned differently/in reverse/top/bottom etc.
This is no big deal as it's just a go/no go diagnostic/health test, and all keys and controls work and respond as they should when using the DSO normally.

System Status displays the latest firmware version
and below that the original hardwear version of the unit (no change)

The knob dials all respond a LOT better    :-+

Not sure if the original trace colors may have been Red and Blue?
but the current ch 1 Yellow and ch 2 Blue stands out better imo

The square wave pics below are with the unit's uncalibrated 10x probes,
they need a slight tweak  :-/O  but not too far off as they are

I will update this comment/post if or when anything else comes up.

And another half baked product that's now usable as it should have been,
saved from Lab Rage, damp garage, nature strip, dumpster, landfill, 66th Floor skydive without parachute, 4WD test, parts box donor, industrial vice, sledge...

The relieved owner may buy another DSO in future based on such a positive experience and surprise,
instead of sticking with analogue CRT oscilloscopes FOREVER

Second Update:   OPTIONAL!   It worked for me but perhaps might not for others (reasons posted way down further)
i.e. The DSO should work fine without it, so you can stop here  :phew:  or go for it... your call, your risk  =   :-BROKE  :-[     or       8)

===============

Flashing equipment with another brands rebadged model firmware ALWAYS carries some risk. i.e. YOURS!

Flashing the equipment during an imminent power failure, earthquake, tsunami, Romulan lab invasion, or the cat jumping or chewing on the wall plug
will result in drama and concerned neighbors  :scared: :scared:

which is why I use a pre-load tested APC sine wave UPS when flashing equipment firmware or BIOS.

Flashing equipment with another brands wrong model firmware, or not sure?  :-//  = don't try it or even think about it!!!  =>    :-BROKE  +  :-[

SDS1000CNL Update - V5.01.02.32

--- End quote ---
:o
V5 FW is for Siglent C*L+ (Plus) models.  :scared:

Well it worked, congrats.
Electro Detective:
The implication at the download page/s hinted it would/should/might cover both PLUS + and non PLUS +

and as usual in Siglent fashion it wasn't made quite clear   |O

so I had a good buzz about it and gave it a go...

Maybe that's why it still shows the original 3xxx Hardwear version?  I'm not sure if the hardwear should get a 5xxx relabel too ?     :-//

This particular unit is firmware downgradable btw, already played with that

and we are feeling adventurous and daring today (it must be the 41 heat.. and beer?) if anyone wants to suggest trying something 'out there'  >:D

EDIT: Another download source with an underscore _  but no  +  on the title "SDS1000CNL_UpdateCurrent Version: 5.01.02.32"

http://www.siglent.com/ENs/prodcut-gjjrj.aspx?id=-1&tid=1&T=1

about two thirds down the page

"SDS1000CNL_UpdateCurrent Version: 5.01.02.32 | Published?2015-07-09  Download

For SDS1072CNL/1102CNL   <<<  no mention of  + PLUS   :-// :-// :-//

But wait...there's more !

SDS1000CNL_Update

CurrentVersion

Release Date 2015-7-9 19:42:27
Version: 5.01.02.32
For SDS1072CNL/1102CNL  <<<

It appears to be the same RAR file and contents,
and because no config file supplied, perhaps it serves to update CNL and CNL+ that are only one update behind  ??

Nah, that would be too easy and logical   ;D
