Title: Atten/Siglent ADS1022C DSO review/teardown
Post by: poorchava on May 15, 2014, 07:44:43 am
Hi everyone, I wanted to try myself at doing a teardown video. This time it's ADS1022C which is I believe one of the cheapest "real" DSO's of all time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9Gn0gGCLxI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9Gn0gGCLxI#ws)

Please tell what should I improve :) Any opinions will be valuable. I hope my English is understandable enough :)

My college lab has that (along with the 60Mhz version). I prefer using this when debugging my circuit because I can carry it around any table I want. But It's slow as hell, and seem going to hang when you press autoset.

Good job with the video.. I skipped over the initial talk and started to look at the dissassembly and you did a good job.

Some feedback... lightning at the video especially at the beginning, maybe too long intro, too much talk, but it's acceptable.  Be more careful in the future with the focus on that camera. It won't focus below a certain distance, so keep the camera further away and use more light to make it focus easier.

In the psu section you said somewhere foil capacitor when pointing to a X2 capacitor, the red "gunk" is thread-locker fluid (loctite makes a bunch of those : http://www.henkelna.com/us/content_data/168592_LT4985_Threadlocking_Guide.pdf (http://www.henkelna.com/us/content_data/168592_LT4985_Threadlocking_Guide.pdf) )

Your English is OK, don't worry about it.

Thanks for comments.

I have already solved the light issue. I have quickly hacked 2 LED lamps 3x1W each. In frontend section you can see that lighting is much better.

Focus is a problem, because the autofocus algorithm in my Galaxy SII sucks bigtime. Perhaps I'll try to use different app for the camera (of course unless the autofocus is done by hardware driver, then I have a problem).

With capacitor - you're right.
