I'm working on a project that uses 1200 baud and would like to use the RS232 Decoder built into my Rigol DS2072 scope. The problem is that the minimum baud rate is 2400. There is a USER selectable baud rate, but it won't allow you to select any baud rates between about 1100 and 2100 baud. I'm using firmware Ver 02.01.00.03.

You need to be more clear about what your problem is, you've missed some words and it's mangled your question.
I just set 1200 baud on mine using the USER baud rate and it worked fine. My knob for setting the baud rate is ridiculously sensitive, so it takes a bit of patience to dial in the baud rate.
I can't remember how to get to the firmware version so I haven't checked it.

Thanks for the reply. I don't see any mangled text in my original post. My basic issue was that I could not select 1200 baud in the RS232 Decoder. I agree that the adjustment knob is super sensitive, but try as I might, the User baud rate would jump from 1100 baud to over 2000 baud. I could never select 1200.

On my 2072 the user baud rate is very sensitive. The first several times I tried to set it to 1200 it jumped back and forth between about 1060 and over 2000. After a few more tries including fiddling with it and turning the knob very slowly I got it to dial in to 1200. I then tried to re-do it and it was even harder to reach 1200 - but I eventually got it. It seems like the knob is perhaps more likely to track properly (without skipping values) if I apply pressure gently from the top or maybe the bottom rather than on the sides - this might vary from unit to unit depending on the particular part or how it was assembled. There is definitely either a mechanical spot or a value range which is not very precise. Nonetheless, at least on mine it's possible to set the value to 1200 if you have enough time and patience. Overall it's a great scope but this particular feature isn't one of Rigol's nicest to use.

You know you can use the jog/shuttle dial for this? ;) No problem adjusting it in steps of 1.

Really good point - yes, the outside dial on the Navigation control will get you in the ball bark and the inside dial on the Navigation control is very precise. This is a better control to use than the Multi-function knob for setting the baud rate in the range/for the value the OP is seeking. Overall, yet another reason that the big Nav control is an excellent feature on the DS2000 series.

but it won't all for any rates
It's this bit I was referring to, it makes no sense at all in English.
But anyway, you've got your answer above, use the navigation controls to dial it in.

Thanks PA0PBZ. The center jog/shuttle knob was a great tip! Was able to select 1200 no problem.
