Beckman Industrial PPS1000 Power Supply - seeking service / ops docs
(1/1)
ChuckDarwin:
Cleaning off more "someday" shelf space. Beckman Industrial power supply PPS1000 (from 1989+). Hefty 40+ kg unit (18x18x18cm transformer), 60VDC, 16-17 amps, GPIB. Was marked "no output" which turned out to be mechanical issues -- stuck output enable relay and loose connections. Snugged things up and got all 10 relays (9 tap, 1 output) responding, presently cleaning off very heavy flux deposits on relay board. Could use some adjustment to bring the reported and actual output values closer together if possible, off by some 10ths, not big. Transformer is under the brown board at left, relay board at top, controller/logic at centre. Board mfr was kind enough to grind off many of the chip identifiers and ROM dump wasn't useful.
Basic operation is easy enough to determine, but I would like to locate a service manual for adjustments and possibly an an ops manual for completeness. If anyone has this unit, any tips to pass on? Internet & archive, arteck, boat anchor, bitsavers and an image search only turned up a data sheet. One GP PPS series manual on ebay for $50 (nope). The main logic board is from Lumen Electronics 1989 and I expect this is a rebrand or generic design--haven't found something similar under a different brand yet. There are several smaller models in this series PPS600, 100.
