long story short.. bought it last year the moment people went frantic. every con dave mentioned in the video is the pro for this, so i know this is a perfect candidate. once arrived i tried to make the conversion by breaking out the lcd using flying wires, failed, not sure what went wrong, some synchronization issue? or impedance mismatch of zebra strip? who knows. got feed up and put it in plastic in the store until few days ago, because browsing Fluke 8840 or Agilent 34401, their depth are too much for my bench, so got no option have to revive this project since my rubidium need repairing requiring this... i went different route after lcd breakout failure, i decided to cut the pcb into 3 pieces and reconnect traces where apropriata. add the ac 50hz transformer old part laying around, 12v fan and 3.3v dc ldo psu, glue and cut here and there, and additional sleep prevention pic10f206 circuit that presses appropriate button in every minute (pull low to GND) voila! now i have bench dmm that wont sleep on me in perfect form factor and size for about guesstimated $50 + a sandwich box to put probes acc etc thanks to Uni-T for the innovative idea... enjoy the pics fwiw.
