Is Fluke 80 series rotary knob with plastic shaft common?

I managed to break a Fluke 80 series rotary knob with plastic shaft while taking it apart.   

It was from a Fluke 87V firmware 1.0.1, rev 9 board.

I have taken 4 or 5 Fluke 80 series rotary knobs apart and they have always been steel/metal until now.

Anyone else notice a plastic shaft on their series 80?

You are right.  The shaft that used to be metal on previous 80 series meters is now plastic.  Last year a friend somehow broke the selector dial on his nearly new 87V.  I replaced the a broken plastic shaft with a metal one machined from a piece of hex stock (think allen wrench).  It was kind of a tricky repair to seat, secure, and center the new shaft into the dial it but turned out well.  The meter is in daily use and no problems so far.
