Hi, apologies if this has been answered somewhere already, I haven't been able to find an answer.
I have a modded DS1052E that I want to last as long as possible. Does it make any difference leaving it on for hours vs frequently turning it on and off? Or is this not important and I'll want a better 'scope before it dies of old age?

I guess it's the same idea as leaving a computer on all the time versus powering it up only when needed.
I think that the camp is split 50/50 on this.
Personally, I keep everything off when I don't use it.

You will definitely want a new scope long before this one dies.
Hell, Dave gave his 1052E to Sagan, and it's still kicking. I don't think power cycling can do a whole lot more damage than a toddler can.

I would tend to support the on/off, depending on how much you are going to use it during the day, the other thing I do is pull the plug out as I leave for the day, some units never really switch off. I am a bit uneasy re smps being on 24x7, old paranoia!
