Agilent 34411A calibration issue.
« on: March 22, 2017, 06:18:43 pm »
Hello folks!

Someone know if the problem described in the next service note (34411A-01A-RECALL) was resolved by the firmware revision 2.39?
http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/34411A-01A-RECALL.pdf

Or the last defect, resolved in that release:
Quote
"Corrected calibration data and state storage issue involving instrument non-volatile memory".
Is refered to other different issue?

Link to 34411A firmware revision history:

Thanks in advance.  :)

The service note you listed isn't a flaw in the meter or firmware. It was simply that the test setup they used didn't save the calibration values after they adjusted it. So the meters with the specific serial #'s listed were not calibrated. The hardware itself is just fine.

Ok, then I misread it.

How can I check if the DMM was sent to Agilent/Keysight as indicated in the service note, for a free calibration?
I have tried to review its service history on the Keysight website, but I cannot get any info.  :-//
Its calibration message show: 2008 as last calibration date. However, its calibration counter show: 1024.

Thanks in advance.

Note: I just want to add that 2008 seems to be the date of manufacture, and a calibration count of 1024, suggest that this DMM was calibrated every 3 months or so since 2008.

I'll check the cal count on my 34411A tonight but I recall it is quite a high number as well. I don't believe it has had any calibration since it left the factory.

I assume your meter serial number is listed in the service note? Have you tried calling Keysight to ask them if an updated cal was performed?

Intriguing! Because if its calibration count is high, and it hasn't had any calibration since it left the factory. Then, I might be wrong, and my DMM never was calibrated.  :scared:
Unfortunately, for the moment, I can not do any checks with known standards or references.

Yes. That's right!

Not yet, it's on my to-do list.

Thanks alot Steve.

Edit: Well, at least for sure it should has passed the “As Received” calibration.

If I remember right, the calibration count adds one for each value that is calibrated for the 34411A.
(Same on the 34410A, 34461A, 34470A)

The 34401A adds only one count when a complete calibration procedure is completed.
This is why we can find old 34401A models with calibration counts less than 10.
There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

My 34411A is from 2006 and has a cal count of 1317. I am quite sure that is the count from factory as it had never been used when I received it.

First: Thanks alot guys, but right now I'm even more confused.

According to the following document, at least 35 parameters are set.
http://control.fs.cvut.cz/sites/default/files/34461AMY53200362.pdf
So a full cycle should increase the counter by 35, right? But Steve has a count of 1317 and only a cal from factory.  :-//
