BK Precision 9140 Series Vs GPP4323

(1/1)

Sariel:
Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of selecting a new power supply for my lab and I'm currently torn between the BK Precision 9140 and the GPP-4323 models.

While the price difference is significant, the BK Precision 9140 series stands out to me with its compact 2U size, which is a perfect fit for my limited lab space. However, it only has 3 channels.

On the other hand, the GPP-4323 offers four tunable channels with CC and can also function as a DC load, providing additional versatility.

If cost isn't a limiting factor, which one would you recommend? Also, any insights on the perceived quality of BK Precision versus GW Instek? I'd appreciate your thoughts and experiences.

nctnico:
No hands on experience but possible the fan noise may be higher on a smaller unit. I also get the feeling the BK Precision 9140 is a switching PSU while the GPP4323 is a linear PSU for sure. For developing / testing analog circuits you will want a linear PSU because a switching PSU pushes too much noise into the circuit under test.
