Hi All new to the forum, been using my BK precision Multimeter to measure mains voltage on a hot water boiler here in the UK it should read 240v but is telling me 150v Ivegot a 20 year old no name cheapy meter that reads the voltage correctly any ideas, is if faulty or am I using it wrong? Cheers |

My guess is something wrong with the meter but to be sure I think it's helpful if you post the model number and also what settings you use. |

Hi, Thanks for the reply its a BK precision 2712, irritating if its faulty as these are quite expensive though not fluke costs please see photo of meter measuring mains voltage, you can see the model and the reading I am getting Cheers |

The meter settings looks correct. So it could be a faulty meter or maybe just faulty cables. Due to capacitive coupling one may still get some AC votlage, though lower than it should be. One could do a test in ohm mode to see if it is reading Ok there. The ohms part is more sensitive to a bad cable. |

I see only one probe and it is on the neutral pin. Where is the other probe? |
