Title: B&K Precison and Siglent Handheld scopes identical
Post by: j_omega on July 03, 2022, 11:48:05 pm
I was shopping around for handheld oscilloscopes and notices that B&K Precision and Siglent have identical case moldings for their handheld oscilloscope lines. Is one of these a rebrand of the other or are they both a rebrand of a third-party source?

Siglent is the OEM for both of those, the SHS800 series now with a newer X version that few of us have seen as yet.

Some of BK's bench scopes are also of Siglent origin.

Actually BK Precision's whole line appears to be rebadged Siglent with the exceptions of their analog CRO and this oddball which I can't place:

I guess the trim is a pretty good disguise.  I didn't realize that line went to 300MHz.

4ch CFL have been around for some years and they are old school designs and like many of the A brands with very small memory depth although they were 2 GSa/s.
The so much more powerful SDS2000X Plus models like you have consigned these old designs to history.

I also noticed that although they are externally different, the firmware for the Tektronix THS3000 series seems to be almost identical to the Fluke 190 series. Here is a post suggesting that the Tek is a re-brand. https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/scope-suggestions-solutions-with-floating-isolated-inputs/msg3929744/#msg3929744 (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/scope-suggestions-solutions-with-floating-isolated-inputs/msg3929744/#msg3929744)

Does the Tek scope also borrow hardware from the Fluke 190 model?

Well Fluke and Tek/Keithley have the same parent company (and have for many years) so it’s not at all surprising they’d do internal rebadging. They did it in the past with some Fluke and Tek bench meters, too.
