Title: BM235 "- - - -" Error Screen on Ohm/Continuity Mode?
Post by: penguins on July 23, 2023, 02:08:11 am
Hello,

I'm an infrequent user of this multimeter, but it's treated me well for a few years. I'm not able to do any resistance or continuity measurements with it right now, though. The screen just shows four dashes, "- - - -", when I switch to that mode. I don't see this explained in the manual. All other modes work fine. Probes are also OK (measuring accurate voltages, etc.). A few notes:

Already replaced batteries with new ones.
Meter is definitely not in "EF" mode.
Checked both fuses to be OK.
Cleaned contact pads on PCB & dial springs. Everything looked OK from initial inspection.

Just hoping someone has an idea of what to look at next. None of the buttons change the screen display, though they still make audible noises.

It shows the dashed lines while it is autoranging.  What happens if you manually select a range?

Ok, it seems like it's stuck there. Maybe I can find that part of the circuit and focus my search. Thank you.

None of the buttons change the screen. I hear beeps, but the display is a constant "- - - -".
