| Brymen 869s with BU86X does not connect under Win11 |
| (1/1) |
| Harm314:
Hi, I have a Brymen 869s + BU86x (bought together in jan-2017), that work reliably under Win 10 on two different computers (an aging self-built desktop built around an i7-2600K, and an ancient Acer Aspire 1810tz). However, on two different Win11 laptops this combination will not run (with a one-time exception, below). The main (test) Win11 laptop is a HP Elitebook G7- i5 with Win11 Pro. As alternative I tried my wife's Surface Pro 7. The datacable shows up with VID 0820 and PID 0001 in Device Manager, and identifies under devices --> other devices as 'Superior DMM'. Note: I see two device IDs: USB\VID_0820&PID_0001&REV_8603 USB\VID_0820&PID_0001 In the Brymen Bs86x software (downloaded from the site, version 6.0.0.3s) I get error [E9015] USB Data Cable not found. I have also tried Test Controller. It seems to find the cable but fails to communicate with it (Test Controller works on a Win10 computer with this hardware). From the debug mode: ;; HIDv0820p0001-81727: Found usb device: \\?\hid#vid_0820&pid_0001#6&27b953b7&0&0000#{4d1e55b2-f16f-11cf-88cb-001111000030} ;; HIDv0820p0001-81727: Comm failed ;; HIDv0820p0001-81727: RxHID: ;; Stopping thread for: HIDv0820p0001-81727 - Brymen BM869s Other things I tried: - run as admin (I normally run in a user account) - set compatibility mode (to Win7) - switch off 'Allow the computer to switch off this device to save power' One-time exception: Earlier tonight the Brymen software was able to connect one time in the Brymen Bs86x software. After I took out and reconnected the USB plug I was no longer able to connect, also not after a restart. I've already gotten feedback on a Dutch forum that this combination works for other people under Win11. I'm not much of a Windows troubleshooter, and out of options. Help very much appreciated. |

some talk there https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/logging-data-using-brymen-bm867s-with-sigrok-on-windows-10-(bu-86x-usb-cable)/ |
| Harm314:
Thanks for the link. The plot thickens: With Sigrok (version 0.7.2) it works (both with and without admin rights). Any thoughts? |
| KungFuJosh:
Sounds like bad drivers. Try uninstalling from device manager, then reinsert to reinstall. |
| Harm314:
The drivers are the standard Windows drivers for HID devices. Screenshot attached, but I don't have high hopes this will solve the issue, especially since a second Win11 PC has the same issue. I'll try anyway over the weekend. |
