Hi guys,
I'm looking for new multimeter for electronics and computer stuff. It's mostly going to see use on electronics. I was thinking about 2 Models for now.
Amprobe AM-510 (Costs 60 USD, Seems to cover most of needs. But 4000 Resolution looks kinda low ?)
Brymen 235 (Price is pretty good. I really want this one but Brymen doesn't ship to here.)
Any other recommendations ? Any brand is ok. As long as It fits budget and is safe to use (Don't want to blow something on my hand)
If you don't need current measurements and don't mind the lowest 6Vdc range, Fluke 101?
I was thinking about it. Looks good overall and is a fluke but no current is deal-breaker
Brymen 235 is a very nice little meter.
Will Welectron ship one to you?
Being HK based look for a Fluke 15B+ or 17B+.
They can but shipment kinda screws my budget. Having to pay 40 Euro for shipment + Tax which puts it in +150 Range
Do those Chinese flukes have any major difference between the ones that produced for global ?
No warranty outside China.
Sorry, before I thought you had a HK flag.
I've had a Fluke 15B (not later +) for some 10 years and it's never missed a beat. I have other better tools for the measurements it won't do.
Price looks really decent for fluke. Do those Chinese flukes have any major difference between the ones that produced for global ?
They're well built but they're not very fast/accurate.
Yes, those two-digit Fluke models produced for the asian market have lots of differences to distinguish them from the pricier models and to save some costs to get to the price point they are actually selling for.
Dave did some teardown of a Fluke 17B+ some videos ago, and basically the design job was done in a good way, no compromis ein safety, but obviously some features of the bigger models are missing.
Question would be, if they are needed in your current application scenario.
Most obvious:
- No TrueRMS ->If you are doing mostly DC in electronics, quite irrelevant
- accuracy not as good as the bigger models, like 0.5% VDC, and up to 1.5% for other modes
- 4000 counts, better models have 6000 or more
If this is ok for you, a two-digit Fluke DMM will work well and last for some time- after all, its a Fluke ;-)

The 17B+ is one of the best ever performers in joe's "turn the dial 50000 times" test.

tme.eu also carries Brymen meters. Maybe they have better shipping terms?
I've had three Amprobe AM-510 meter develop faults within a few months, could have been a bad batch but... 2 stuck on 11nf on capacitor range and one display had missing segments.
I just go for Brymen now, never had an issue with them so far.
