| C.A. 5275 [Chauvin Arnoux] digital multimeter (teardown and minor repair) |

| Nifty:
Background: Two weeks ago, on a local FB market I saw a digital multimeter "C.A. 5275". During this time, the price was reduced from 200 to 75 euros :) apparently, this brand is not very popular in our area. Comes with original probes and holster. Because the price was quite low and I never had a "Chauvin Arnoux" (or Metrix) multimeter (is anyone had?), I bought it out of curiosity. The seller was in another city, so I couldn't test the multimeter. Given the seller's strange Facebook profile, I resigned myself to the fact that I might not receive anything or something was wrong with the multimeter ;) In my multimeter, both fuses (630mA and 10A) were blown. After replacement, everything works. Extra 15 euros for fuses :( During disassembly, I paid attention to the rigid connection of the probe terminals to the PCB. And (surprise, surprise) the common terminal was already loose. I had to solder it more securely. You shouldn't do this, if the PCB is in the case, the plastic bushings of the terminals melt very quickly. Like: The original probes are modular, quite long (1.5 m) with silicone wires. Nice backlight. "OFF" position on both sides! Yeah baby! Do not like: Not the fastest continuity measurement. Flimsy mode switch. |
