Hi All,
First time posting here, very new to forum. I did search on this for a while all over the net and on here and have found nothing so I am posting.
I ordered a Quicko 952 Soldering Station. I guess its meant to be similar to a Hakko FX951 or something so I am wondering if it is possible to connect the FM2032 to it for micro soldering?
I think they both have the same 4 pin connector right? Does that mean it will work? Is that too simple an approach... does it "talk" to the pencil in a special way that only a Hakko station can? :)
Sorry if it's a dumb question, total noob here :)
Regards
Daniel

An FM2032 with 4 pins is a fake. I have an FX-951 with the FM2027 wand and the connector has 8 pins. A real 2032 also has 8 pins.

And there is the simple answer to my question, thank you!
For some reason I was convinced that both the Quicko and the FX951/952 had 4 pins. I see now from the product manuals that they all the Hakkos have 8 pins whereas the Quicko has 4. So they will never be compatible.
Does a FM2032 knock off even exist? Or at least some sort of 4 pin micro soldering iron?
I would purchase the genuine article in the future but for the moment I don't really have the spare cash to do it and just want to get up and running with some half decent equipment.I also purchased the Quick 861DE hot air rework station which seems to have a good reputation.

Honestly, I have no idea. I don't have the 2032, just the 2027. The 2027 wand is far more popular, thus the fakes and 'clones'.

OK, thank you.

All Hakko's are not pin compatible. I have an FX888D & a FX951 and the irons/wands do not have interchangeable pin patterns. I don't have my 888 in front of me so I don't recall the pin count but it is less than 8.

Looking at the Hakko web site, the FX951 support the FM2028 and also FM2032.
I think this means that T12 cartridge and T30 are also compatible from an electrical/connections poit of view. They are just mechanically different.
I have a Bakon BK950D that use T12 cartridge and has only 3 pins in the connector.
I should be able to connect the FM2032 just cutting the original Hakko connector and sort the 3 pins connecting to the tip. I wonder if in the FM2032 cable there are 8 wires like the original connector or just 3 as I suspect.
Your Quicko 952 have 4 pin connector, 3 are connected to the cartridge and the remaining one should be for the "vibration sensor".
I think you can connect the 3 pins going to the cartridge and arrange sensor pin so the station never goes to sleep.

the 8pin hakko connector is not fully used.
some pins are for a "smart stand" loopthrough that has a pressure switch in it.

AFAIK there is a separate connector on the back of the FX951 to connect it to the stand for the sleep function.
On the following post you can see that in the Hakko cable there are only 4 connectrions:

I can't see any issue connecting the original HAKKO FM2028, FM2027 and also FM2032 to any low budget station that use T12, T13, T30... cartridge
It is just a matter of sorting the connecttions or buid a connector adapter.

Thanks all this info guys, especially Mauro for the pics and suggestions regarding pins.
I wonder if it would be a difficult thing to do. Would it be crazy to buy the FM2032 and then try to butcher it?? I have little to no electronics experience but am very open to trying something when given good instructions.
I’m going to do a little research on this and see how feasible it is without risking permanently damaging the handle. I’d like to be able to sell it if it were not possible for some reason.
Any further advice on this is more than welcome.
