Recently, there's a new kind of gimmick popping up on eBay, namely tiny USB based power supplies.
This seems to be the most sophisticated one and even includes current control.
This red one is usually sold for slightly less than 7€ (or around 8€ including P&P). There's also a cheaper one in blue color with simple LED display. Of course there are also different other types but these seem to be the most interesting ones.Technical specs are a bit contradicting. It's either 1-24V or 1-30V, but even 1-24V would be totally OK for a small device like this.
Admittedly, they are probably noisy and the 15W "maximum" seems a tad optimistic, but even with a few hundred mA and a bit of noise, this looks like a pretty cool thing to supply small projects on the go.
[EDIT]
Hm, uploading a PNG failed completely and embedding the picture didn't work either.
