Title: Cheap LCR
Post by: Coiljunkie on June 06, 2017, 01:36:15 am
Are any of these cheap handheld lcr meters on ebay half way accurate? Or are they a complete waste of time. I'm a beginner so I don't need or even deserve a 500.00+ lcr meter. Just something that will make sure I don't blow my chips.

Thanks in advance.

HP4070.
Small range of capacitance measurement.
It does not measure ESR,which is very important.

it looks very good but I wouldn't be able to appreciate it and I don't want to spend that kind of money until I know a bit more. Thanks for the suggestion.

go for a DE-5000 they dont cost a fortune and will work well for most jobs

all the other made with avr pics  can be good, it depends on the firmware quality and checks, i have one m328, it is a surprising gizmo, i made the externals reference mods to have better quality and stability

there's a thread here about thes models

But for a beginner, go for a hassle free model like de-5000, mastech ms5308 (is higher priced for nothing) they have the same chips inside ...
