| Cheap replacement probes for DS1054Z - trying to understand. |

| Jaunedeau:
Hi, I have a DS1054Z that I use only once or twice a year. It's the first time I try to use it with more than 2 channel, and I just now understand that two of the brobe arrived with a broken hook (way to late for warranty). I want to buy replacement probes for cheap (since I don't often use the scope anyway, only for home hobby), but wat wondering if I should spend $10 or $20 and what would the difference be. if I take e.g. https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/32350418957.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_groupList.8148356.14.7d652f70b8lZt6&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21EUR%21%E2%82%AC%209%2C36%21%E2%82%AC%207%2C87%21%21%21%21%21%402100bde316695451889566626eda1f%2110000000562296834%21sh , for 12€ there is a pair of probes with these specs : - 100MHz, 3.5ns rise time - 1X (1MR 2%, 70-120pF, 200V) and 10X (10MR 2% 13-17pF, 600V) - 120cm the original PVP2150 from rigol gives : - 1X: 35 MHz, 10ns, 1 MΩ ± 1%, 50 pF ± 20 pF, 150 V rmcat II - 10X: 150 MHz, 2.3 ns, 10 MΩ ± 1%, 10 pF ± 5 pF, 300 V rmcat II which seems both a bit better and more realistic. From what can be seen in the picture, the building quality seems to be about the same. but the same manufacturer also avec these : https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/32350858868.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_groupList.8148356.10.7d652f70b8lZt6&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21EUR%21%E2%82%AC%2013%2C10%21%E2%82%AC%2011%2C13%21%21%21%21%21%402100bde316695451889566626eda1f%2110000001305453197%21sh . The P2100 have the same specs as the first one, cost 13€ a pair instead of 12. From the picture, maybe the plastic is a bit better but I'm not even sure ? Will those make any difference when compared to the original probes ? If I'm looking for "not getting terrible performance for hobby use" and maybe "have somtehing that feel a bit better than the origin probes in hands", do you have any recommandation ? Thanks, John. Side question : can I buy replacement hooks for the original rigol probes ? I did not find any. |

To use it once or twice a year? You won't notice any difference with the cheap ones. https://www.eevblog.com/forum/reviews/cheapest-100mhz-oscilloscope-probes-hands-on-review/ |

--- Quote from: Jaunedeau on November 27, 2022, 11:22:00 am --- the original PVP2150 from rigol gives : - 1X: 35 MHz, 10ns, 1 MΩ ± 1%, 50 pF ± 20 pF, 150 V rmcat II - 10X: 150 MHz, 2.3 ns, 10 MΩ ± 1%, 10 pF ± 5 pF, 300 V rmcat II --- End quote --- The current model is PVP3150, of the same spec. There must be a reason for that change. Perhaps Rigol had too many complains so PVP3150 is made of bit better plastics. But the chances are it's even more cheap. Did anyone notice a difference? I'm using PVP3150. It's not a Tek active probe but so far so good. --- WBR |
