Simpson Model 372 Ohm Meter
« on: August 19, 2022, 04:48:51 pm »
What a blast finding old Simpson test gear you didn't even know existed. I bought an original Simpson model 372 Ohm Meter for $40 and I'm restoring it. I was so excited about the find; I ordered a brand new one while I was waiting for the old one to arrive...it's backordered but on the way eventually.

The process of restoration is really a blast. What is wrong or missing? Where is the schematic? Who has one of these things that can help? Searching the forums. Etc.

Well, there isn't much out there frankly. I did meet a great guy at Simpson that has been very helpful. He sent me the schematics for the original and version 2 which I will attach below. I have been able to source the 30v batteries (which I never knew existed), and will replace a few resistors, and build test leads. Once the thing works again, I'll tackle the cosmetic restoration. I think for 59 years old, this baby will look and perform like new! I'm having trouble finding #4-36 1.5-inch round-head brass screws. If anyone has a source, please respond.

Mine is a disaster but is mostly there. See photo.
