Title: Chinese ebay component testers
Post by: icon on September 13, 2014, 10:31:41 pm
Hi

There's lots of variations of these knock-off component testers on ebay; I feel like taking the plunge and buying one, but are there any that are better than the general crowd?

Thanks
John

I've seen a few with classic 2 line LCDs, but this one takes the cake for $20:

Can calibrate, be programmed (It's a Mega 328 I believe) and a pretty screen to boot. Oh, did I mention a ZIF!

I got one of these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/281314227233?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) a couple of months ago and it seems to agree with my multimeter in the things that I can test with my meter.

Me too - got one from Amazon for a bit off fun but found it quite useful - needs to be calibrated by shorting 1,2 &3 and following instructions - need a 100nF cap at step 8.

Can you post a link to the calibration info?

If I remember correctly, the device walks you through it as the info is part of the programming and displays on the screen.

Neat. I wish they added another set of pads to the board for smaller SMD components.

i bought a DIY kit one recently which had SMD test points. Unlike the photos mine came with a preprogrammed Mega 328.

Yes, that does look quite nice. Ships to the UK too, unlike the one linked to by Liquibyte.

Thanks

I bought this one from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LMVVYBU/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1410735757&sr=1&keywords=transistor+tester (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LMVVYBU/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1410735757&sr=1&keywords=transistor+tester) and it has 5 smd pads.
