AEMC 5233 Too Good To Be True?
« on: March 22, 2015, 01:56:26 pm »
I was about to buy a Fluke 87-5 but came across the AEMC 2125.65 DMM Model 5233 on tequipment.net.
Under $100 for specs reasonably comparable to the Fluke, including CAT IV plus non-electrical contact detection.
But I don't see any reviews.
Does anyone have experience with these meters?

It is a great deal. AEMC is made by a French company, http://www.chauvin-arnoux.com/fr,  that makes some different looking meters. Martin Lorton did a review on one that looks like something from Star Trek.

This particular model is not well suited to electronics as it doesn't have uA/mA. Other than that it is a very good buy.

Thanks, Lightages!

Yes, I see some of the ranges are restricted, specifically
DC Current 1mA limit on the low side with no low-current fuse
Frequency 3kHz limit on the high side

All-in-all, though, seems like an inexpensive, capable, general purpose DMM.

More like an electricians DMM... especially with that low-impedance AC input

Danke, dom0,

Ja, das sehe ich jetzt.  Die Spezifikationen und Funktionen sind dem Fluke 117 näher.
Dazu, die Herkunft von AEMC (Chauvin Arnoux) scheint Starkstrom zu sein.
