Thanks. But you forgot an image of the assembled unit so we know what it looks like. ;)

Well, who does not want a "fully functiognl" scope for "the use of safe"  :-DD

Meh, try Dave our host for getting into his one.

Good news everyone! Jinhan also makes dual channel version of this glorious beast, JDS2022A.

Teardown:

25MHz sine:

$140 free shipping.

2x AD9288 + some FPGA/CPLD, based on the scratch marks either Lattice cpld or Altera Cyclone 2? + some ARM micro + 320x240 LCD. Not bad for the price, might be useful after hacking as a cheap PC analog input.

I purchased the JDS2023 that has two channels and includes a 5MHz signal generator.

I tested it quickly using a lab-grade RF signal generator and confirmed the 20MHz bandwidth specification; it clearly shows at least 10 points per cycle of the sinewave (validating the 200MS/s specification) and there is no amplitude compression of the 0dBm signal (nominally 0.632vpp into a 50-ohm load – this is unloaded so it correctly shows 2x vpp); the analog front end 3dB compression point is somewhere north of 40MHz.

It can make "screenshots" only? PC integration only as flashdrive with screenshoots, isnt it?

Hello all,

I realise this is an OLD thread, however I just purchased on of these 'scopes (from Amazon, $150.00) to sort of replace my old OWON HDS1022M-N which died an untimely death when its plastic outer case decided to disintegrate in my hands (it's listed on eBay for parts, the battery, display and boards are all intact and OK).

The OWON was nearly $600 when i  bought it in June of 2009--this guy is close to its equal, at 1/4 the cost--though i do miss the FFT and waveform averaging functions the QWON offered. The unit I received (claimed to be "new") was apparently produced in July of 2017, anf differs from all that I have seen in it's control button labeling--mine has hybrid Chinese/English legends on the function buttons. THe supplied documentation sucks, apparently machine translated from Chinese; but with some fiddling and a basic knowledge of handheld DSOs it's not the difficult to figure out.

I also found that the dual battery box had intact terminals for the "spare" cell (unlike some i had seen on YouTube and elsewhere); so I jumped it to be in parallel with the live cell. As the instrument does not attempt to charge the cells I saw no downside to this, and now enjoy 8-10 hours of use from a set of cells...

envision their being jumpered:

My one significant impression is that this is a real test instrument, designed to be such; not some flahey 200 kHz hobbyist level, overworked micro-controller/FPGA based toy like so many others in its price range...

The green solder mask look awful, especially near CPU.

Are the gray stuff heat sink compound or so that no one can copy their design???

I'm not a native english speaker.
but this is clearly a blog where people communicate in english. I did find that people here are rather understanding with any sort of mistake. However, every contributor should do its best to produce understandable sentences. Asking people to make an effort has noting to do with xenophobia.

The effect seen is an artifact of the crappy combination of incandescent and electronic flash lighting I used when photographing the unit's insides--it is actually quite well made for it's price point. And of course they attempt to protect their design 'twould be silly not to...
