DC current resolution of Fluke 87-V
« on: October 04, 2019, 01:05:26 pm »
Hi,

I have searched for the specs of Fluke's 87V DMM. Actually I have found two types: 87-5 and 87-V. Don't know what is the difference between them:
https://hu.farnell.com/fluke/fluke-87-v-e2k-eur/digital-multimeter-true-rms-10a/dp/2889341?st=fluke%2087
https://hu.farnell.com/fluke/fluke-87-5-e2k-eur/electrician-kit-fluke-87v-e2/dp/1895811?st=fluke%2087

But the confusing thing is not that, but that in one datasheet it has a 0,01uA resolution and in the other it has 0,1uA. For example fluke.com says 0,01uA down at specs tab: https://www.fluke-direct.com/product/fluke-87-5-industrial-multimeter

I have one that is around 4-5 years old, but it has definitely 0,1uA resolution.

Is it possible that there are different revisions of them?

You have to turn on hi-res mode for 0.01uA resolution. Press the light button for 2 seconds on the fluke 87V (same as -5) to turn it on and off.
On the older (non -V) 87s, hi-res mode is a turn on option, press the light button while turning on and it will give you the extended resolution (and will be quite slow).
I just verified it that it will give you 0.01uA resolution on both the newer and the older Fluke 87s.

The Fluke 87V and 87-5 are the same exact meters.  V is Five in roman numerals.  Take a look the pictures of the 87-5 unit.  You will see 87V.
