Finally got my HP54502A scope back together and passed all calibration tests. I replaced the Schaffner filter switch which had been acting funny then read here they can explode! Replaced the Dallas chip with a new one, soldered in a DIP socket for easy future removal. That was a real pain to remove by the by |O. Checked all the caps, only replaced a couple small ones that were a bit leaky. The thing was spotless inside, looks like it was hardly ever used. I like it, but, that doggone power switch in the back really blows. So, was thinking of running a switched power outlet to the front of my bench. Any foreseeable issues with that???
