DAWE phase meter - model 632A
« on: July 29, 2023, 06:39:54 pm »
I have spotted one of the above on a well-known auction site and it looks fascinating. I have their noise generator - nice bit of thyratron-fired valve gear.

Does anyone have any information on the Dawe phase meter? It appears to have two inputs (max 10V each, one 'reference', one for difference).

So, unsurprisingly it must be comparing one AC with another and calculating the phase angle, which is what it displays.

Just looks like a fascinating bit of kit, but absolutely no information/schematics appear to exist.

The only part of Dawe that survived was the Ultrasonic cleaning part, it became Branson Ultrasonics in Slough, unfortunately they seem to have become part of Emerson (no mention in their history page  :palm:), who knows if any archives survive?

I think the font and style of that clipping is very reminiscent of Wireless World, especially "Reply card No ...".

Brilliant David, thank you.

I had assumed it was valve, not solid state as the case and design mirror the Noise Gen I have which is very valve...
