I try create IR to UART to USB converter for DE-5000 LCR meter Any as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tOvNqYPlwY&feature=youtu.be I use PL2303HXD USB to UART converter and NPN photo transistor L-53P3C Collector connect to RXD and Emiter to GND. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1PCS-PL2303HXD-PL2303TA-6Pin-USB-to-RS232-TTLCable-Module-for-WIN-XP-WIN7-8-1/172426158988?hash=item282566638c:m:m3I00AwrdnTKYDkCHVGko0A I thing if Transmit IR LED in DE-5000 shines is NPN Shitch ON and ground RXD. I was expecting if I on DE-5000 press PC I in PC recieve any as https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/decoding-der-ee-lcr-meter-de-5000-serial-bitstream/ unfortunately I recieve only <0> or 00 in hex view mode every 1sec. In PC I use https://sites.google.com/site/terminalbpp/ 9600, 8,1,None Any idea, where is the problem? |

In case anyone is still interested in building a custom IR-to-UART adapter... I very recently created my own little blog where I offer everything needed in order to build your own adapter: https://tltb.slur97.org/ir-to-usb-adapter-for-der-ee-de-5000-lcr-meter/ That includes the 3D models, a schematic and sourcecode - all free of charge, of course. |

Oh damn it - I didn't see your message until now :( The website should be working again now. Cheers! |

This is perfect. I recently picked one of these up and I have used a sparkfun breakout rs232 style board and a sensor to recive the data. I found some Python script but it doesnt work currently so I was toying with getting that working. Of course I got distracted becuase a 3d printer turned up and I was just thinking about making a model for the sensor. This saves me a few hours. I guess the only thing to do now is print it all up and get it working. I wonder if the unit can take input, I know its go no sensor for receiving signals but it looks like they had planned to do it just never did it. |
