Title: DE-5000 LCR Meter Measurement Accuracy of Small Inductors

Hi all-

So in the thread below we discussed how small a capacitor the DE-5000 can reliably measure and I (at least) was amazed that an inexpensive tool such as this can easily sort out a 1pF cap.  Nice!

So... what about inductors?  Who here has used this with very small values and can speak to 'edge of the envelope' performance?  How low do we feel this can be trusted?

I've only tested mH stuff, so I don't know.  Can any of you microhenry types share your experience?  Thanks.

Yes,DE-5000 it is capable to measure small inductance very precisely, even nanoH, but there are important features at measurement.Indications taking into account drift 0 are stable, but very strongly depend on quality, reliability and force of a clip of contacts of Calvin and also on purity of contacts of the most checked detail.
Warning!
Before calibration 0, for the test of small sizes of inductance it is very desirable to exclude influence of own inductance of test wires (from change of their situation at measurement). For this purpose they on all length are recorded by an insulating tape, it is possible to apply temporarily plastic couplers!
After calibration 0 provision of wires and clips at measurement shouldn't change!
In the photo measurement of small inductance in the form of a ring and also drawings from the program of calculation of inductance Coil32 is shown. Results of measurements on DE-5000 completely coincide with calculated by the program.
