DER DE-5000 Issue selecting Dissipation, Q-Factor, ESR during cap measurement

(1/1)

BFP:
Just recently purchased this meter from Amazon and while trying to measure electrolytic caps at 120Hz (i.e. 1000 uF & 2200 uF), I'm unable to select the Q-factor, ESR or Phase Angle.  Only the default dissipation factor is provided and the meter beeps twice at me when pressing the button which tells me it's a non-functional parameter when it should be (I think).

However, if I cycle to inductance, I'm then able to select these factors (Q, ESR, theta) or if I cycle through the LCR and back to C measurement, I can THEN select those parameters with no issue.

Just wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this bizarre behavior.  Thanks.

TheDefpom:
it defaults to auto mode, to do any kind of detailed measurements you need to select manual C mode to do it, its normal.

BFP:
Cool, thanks.  I'll try that out.

BFP:
There doesn't appear to be a method to exit "auto" mode for L & C measurements.  The strange thing is that the user manual states D,Q,ESL,theta should be accessible even in Auto mode.

Those parameters are NOT available UNLESS i cycle through them in Auto L mode only, once I do that I can cycle through them in Auto C.
