DHO800 No firmware Available

(1/2) > >>

leafi:
Hi all

I tried to search the forum and I did not see this issue but I just got a DHO804 and it came with 1.1 FW. I tried to install 1.2 but the scope will never find any USB drives or sd cards in readers. I even did a reset of the scope and now its saying its FW version 1.0 :-(

I have 2 USB drives both are USB 3 256GB and 512GB and I tried a 4GB micro SD card in a reader. I can see the storage in the settings but I do not know how to run the file browser. I really don't want to have to return / exchange the scope.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tired multiple downloads of 1.2 and the 1.3 I found on the internet to no avail.

Also has anyone messed with the developer options and does the force MSAA show any difference?

Thanks

USB drives should work. I don't know what's going on there. Are they formatted with FAT32?

Does a mouse work in the USB port? If not, it might be a hardware fail.

The other way is to copy the file onto the 'scope over Ethernet. Use FTP. You can select the file from local storage in the update dialog.

You need to try other usb sticks! These devices are always picky.

Yes USB mouse and Keyboard are working.
Even if you go into the Android settings and look at the storage it sees the storage device and the right size. Android is even copying into the USB drive the android files so I do not understand.

They were formatted Fat 32. :-(

I seem to recall (from my brief DHO1000 ownership) that there are two firmware update paths -- one to download firmware from a cloud server, and one via a USB stick. And the way the two options were placed and named in the menus invited you to "take a wrong turn", asking for a cloud update when you wanted one via USB.

Maybe a DHO800 owner could clarify the right steps, and/or @leafi could describe in detail what was tried and failed?

EDIT: Found it in the manual. For a USB-based upgrade, you need to go via the Storage menu > Upgrade. Do not go via the "R" gearwheel icon > Upgrade icon, that will attempt a cloud update!
