I think I renember looking for a insulation tester a long time ago and it was kind of unaffordable. I thought it was ridiculous that the thing you need to test a compressor chassis insulation was so expensive.

Now I see decent tools in the $200 and things like BTmeter for $50 (1kV)

I feel like 10 years ago the prices were like 10x higher. Am I wrong?

I feel like this tool got so cheap it belongs in a beginner repairs shop now. I feel somewhat blind sided by extremely low price of some of these HV meters.
