Title: Differences between Rigol RSA3000 and RSA5000?
Post by: eblake on November 30, 2021, 06:01:56 am
I've had no luck googling variations of this query, or finding information here, but I'm curious if anyone knows of differences between these units other than...

The differences I've found are that the carrier offsets and DANL figures are a few dB better on the RSA5000, and the RSA3000 does not seem to offer the Vector Signal Analysis option (VSA).

There's a fair jump in price between the two series, so I wonder if the above explains it all, or if I've missed something significant. Maybe it's the colour difference  ;)

Comments would be appreciated.

Just put two datasheets together.
There are many differences. Bandwidth, DANL, phase noise, VSA...

Combing through the 28 pages of each datasheet is exactly what I did, highlighter in hand.

Perhaps I'm making incorrect evaluations about the cost of the tighter specifications, but that's what I was asking about.

So making a 6 GHz front end with better DNL and noise than the 3GHz one is not a big deal.. That alone is enough to warrant price difference (and some). Real time VSA software option alone from some other manufacturers costs more than whole RSA5000..

So, yes, you are underestimating what an upgrade it is..
