DIY Agilent 34970A Breakout box
« on: May 03, 2022, 06:45:09 pm »
Hello,
Just to get more fun with my Agilent 34970A, I decided to build a breakout box. Maybe it can give you some ideas :)
I really like the 34970A specially with the 34901A multiplexer but it's not always easy to deal with the wires...

The breakout box has 15 channels connected to the 34901A module.
7x VDC, 2x resistances, 1x frequency, 1x VAC, 2x temperatures and 2x current measurements.

The goal was to have something the same size as the Agilent DAQ.
I found a nice made in US enclosure at RS Online
RS reference 237-4432
and good quality Staubli banana sockets with solder termination of course :)
Reference : 49.7043-22 (red) 49.7043-21 (black)
I used a screened good quality CAT6 cable for the signals and 1mm silicon multi strand wires for the current measurement and I avoided a back connector just to have less loss and simple design.

Total cost is 100$

(I can send the drilling DXF file and the front panel sticker design if anyone wants...)

Some pictures (Of course the keysight logo is there on the front panel just for fun)
