| DIY Open-Sided TEM Cell for EMC Testing? |
| (1/2) > >> |
| coflynn:
Hello, I wondered if anyone had designed/built their own open-sided TEM cell for basic EMC testing, or otherwise used one? Basically appears to be a few pieces of PCB of appropriate dimensions to form the cell. As a reference here is a few examples of what I'm talking about: Commercial small TEM cell - $599, see manual for details Atmel article on TEM cell - fairly large Paper on DIY TEM cell - medium size I was looking at making PCB design that could just be sent to fab, but wondered if someone else had done that? The $600 TEM cell isn't a terrible deal compared to the cost of large PCBs, but it's also maybe a little small for my use. Regards, -Colin |

One of these days I'm going to do something like that. But why use PCB? I was thinking cardboard, aluminum foil and tape! Tim |

I would like to build a closed tem cell for emc radiated and susceptibility testing. I always thought a open tem cell was some what compromised I.e spewing out e fields and picking up back ground noise. Any one have any experience with these? |
