Hantek HDG2012B no output after NAND recovery
« on: February 17, 2020, 11:50:53 pm »
I have a Hantek HDG2012B which sat in storage for a couple of years due to a bootloop caused by a firmware update. It was working fine before the firmware update.

I finally got time to recover the NAND flash: did so with a serial interface and sent the u-boot, kernel, recover and rootfs via a USB cable using TQBoardDNW.

These are the files I used (version 1.00.3 with recovery partition).

The unit boots fine and all the menus and buttons are working, except there is no output on any of the channels. As can be seen in the photo, the self-test fails at CH1 and CH2 outputs and zoom units. I also mention that I did a preliminary check of all the power supplies and clocks in the unit and they are present. So I believe it to be a software problem, something related to the FPGA not communicating with the analog front-end section.

Any advice is welcome.

Have you tried to install the same firmware again?

I tried 3 firmwares:

- 1 was from Hantek themselves, which won't even boot, was stuck at the Hantek logo
- the other 2 are in the archive I put in the link, versions 1.00.1 and 1.00.3, which if I remember right someone posted on this forum.

I don't remember exactly what was the version it came with, I believe it was 1.00.1. However, none of the 2 versions generates an output.

I attach the serial log as the device boots up.

I know it sounds unnecessary, but check +12/-12V rails after linear regulators.
Worst case scenario, i'll take a dump from my own unit and help you to fix it. What's your PCB version?

I did check the (+/- 15V in my case) voltage after the linear regulators and they're fine. My PCB version is 1.00.4. I also attached a serial log in the last post. Thank you for your help !
