Title: Does the diode mode of the multimeter vs Curve tracer

Does the diode mode of the multimeter (with the red probe on the ground) replace the curve tracer in integrated circuit testing? If not, why?

not       

a curve tracer use a scope,  that way you see the dut  specs and how it behave, and  if it leak ...   a meter will not show it like this,  on some   it help you test a zenner too


a meter will test in voltage, mostly up to 3v,  or some eevblog ones or some others who can output 15 vdc,   you get the junction voltage of a diode  0.3v 
0.6v  etc ..   can test some zenners,  but there is a limit

a meter in ohms   you may see if you are in forward or reverse   if you see conduction


as tools:  get both of them, learn on how to interpret read values,  tests them,  interference of parts in parallel on / in the circuit   etc ...

you have 2 questions here about curve tracer,  pls avoid multiples thread ....  i know it is not identical,   but be careful ...

No.

Because it doesn't show a curve on a screen.
