Maybe the VBUS is not directly routed from the plug to the chip - I do not know if the chip needs it to do the negotiation or if its just connected to CC1 and just does the "paperwork". I´ll have a look this weekend.

Good news: While the DP100 is powered by non-managed 30V DC, the maximum voltage on the CH224K VBUS pin is 10V, VDD is around 2V. It seems that the device only powers this chip if it initializes the power delivery.

I just make fast search about good load switch ITS428L2. Seems that be good candiate for that job. It is have all protections inside is, maybe t will not need PCB if can handle load current.

As I tried figured out that if my DP100 have that undershoot issue time ago I tested it with USB-C charger and my portable OWON hds2202s and there didn't have such problem as I remmeber, but maybe need to test it again.

The ITS428L2 needs at least 4.75 V. You certainly don't want to use the DP100 for output voltages ≥ 4.75 V only...

Just received one.
I could not reproduce Power OFF anomaly at all in all combinations.

For me solution is: just short out power MOSFET M1.
Thanks to old Occam.

I am powering my DP100 with a USB C PD, 19V.

Current measurements seem reasonable.

However, when I plug the USB A connection in, the power reported drops quite noticeably.
From around 26W reported to 24W.

Anyone else notice this?

EDIT: Grabbing a USB isolator fixed this. I used one I had on hand: KGUSS Topping HS02 USB2.0 but I'm sure cheaper ones work.

That´s exactly the problem of the non-isolated output with low-side current measurement.

As soon as you plug in the USB-A connection you create a ground-loop from the DP100 main output to the USB-A output. And all current that flows back by the USB-A cable is not accounted for in the power display.

Using a galvanic isolator is exactly the good solution for this problem. It´d be even better if the DP100 would be galvanically isolated by itself or would have a real common ground for its inputs and outputs.

Hi there,

I took Scott's idea to use WebHID and started building a proper browser-based interface.

It's still a work in progress, I only managed to plot a power chart. However, that already pretty helpful, since this is missing hardware wise.
I'll try using the next weekend to add proper control to adjust all settings via the browser.

You check it out already, it's open source: https://github.com/codingjoe/DP100-WebApp

I hope you like it!

Cheers!
Joe

OK, I spent another day working on a web interface. This is what I came up with. You can set U and I value now. And monitor the device including OPP events.

I took the time to make a quick demo video of the web interface for the DP100, hope it helps:
